Saint John Catholic School opened its doors to students in September of 1949 at the edge of what used to be the Charleston Navy Base.  The School is part of Saint John Catholic Church Parish. Through the years the school has served varied populations, meeting the needs of an ever-changing economic and cultural community. In the early years the school’s attendance was as high as 300 students. At present there are around 75 students. The neighborhood has seen a drastic change since the closing of the Naval Base in 1997.
Because of our unique mission among Catholic schools, Saint John Catholic School now draws students from outside the neighborhood including other Catholic schools in the tri- county area.
