We are working on knowing all the words in the Peace Pledge.

Special classes are held on Friday. These include Physical Education (PE) with Mrs. Provost, Art with Miss Kitty, Music with Miss Williams and Library with Mrs. Deavor, along with Show and Tell every Friday.

We begin using our behavior chart 9/2/2008. The children have had 8 days to learn and practice following our 3 main class rules:
1) Be a good friend / classmate.
2) Be a good listener. Look at the person talking. Mouth is closed and quiet. Body is still. No busy hands. Feet and body are still.
3) Be the Little Engine That Could. NO saying "I Quit" or "I Can't". You may say I'm trying my best, but it is too hard.

The chart is based on colors and smiley faces. We all start each day on green (a big smiling face). One mistake is a green/yellow stripe.  Two mistakes earns a yellow, serious face. Following that is a yellow/red stripe.  Finally, mistake 4 is red and a sad face. If you go on red during any part of the week, there is no prize box on Friday.

Miss White has set our Principals Reading Challenge for the 2008/2009 school year. It is based on the book The Trumpet of the Swans. The story is about a swan that can't make sounds like the other swans. With the love and support of his family, friends and a caring teacher, he finds other was to communicate and become very successful in life. More details about the prizes will be sent home by Miss White.

On Friday, your child should wear the school PE uniform. This consists of the school Circle of Peace t-shirt, navy blue athletic shorts and sneakers.  Miss White is giving the students the choice to wear their regular PE shirts on Fridays or the auction tee-shirt until the end of the year. Tee-shirt order forms are in the main office. On cold days you may wear navy blue sweatpants. Some mornings may start off cool, but by the time we have PE (10 AM) it is warmer. On those days, have your child wear sweatpants over the shorts.

Please make sure your child is wearing his or her complete uniform. Every family should have received a Family Handbook. Please use this as a reference when you have questions about what is acceptable and what is not.

Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school on days that are expected to be hot.

The supply lists for K4-K5 are available here.
