Attention Kids and Parents... Check out this Lowcountry Parent photo contest. Your child could be featured in Lowcountry Parent Magazine with a picture of their pet. Lowcountry Parent magazine wants to feature your story in the October issue! All you have to do is
1) Write three paragraphs about why your pet is your best friend.
2) Have your parent take a photo of you and your pet.
3) Have your parent e-mail photo and story to editor@lowcountryparent.com by Sept. 8, 2010.
Select entries will be featured in the October print issue of Lowcountry Parent magazine and online at www.LowcountryParent.com.
LEGO League for grades 4-8 begins Wednesday, Sept. 1st at 3:15pm - check out the kickoff info. Any interested students who missed the informational meeting on Wednesday Aug 25th need to see Mrs. Kramp if they want to participate. Note that we are still searching for a parent volunteer to lead the Jr LEGO Team (grades 1-3) this school year.

We are busy planning a Huge Community Yard Sale for September 18th from 8am-1pm. You may donate items to the school table, or rent a table for $25. We cannot accept anything broken, chipped or torn and donations MUST be in working order. If you have household items that are in good condition that you would like to donate to the yard sale, please contact the school office. We will also be selling lunches and treats, so come hungry! Stay tuned for the details!
This academic year, we are planning monthly Friday Night Dinners after HSA meetings in the Parish Hall. Take the night off from the kitchen and enjoy the company of your SJCS community. September 10th at 6:30pm - Our first monthly dinner will be a Family Picnic night, a cookout celebrating the end of the "Dog Days of Summer" including hot dogs and hamburgers and a Cookie Sale for dessert. Someone may be the winner of a home made baked good if they buy the "Lucky Cookie" at the bake sale.
Ticket cost varies by month/meal. Children 3 and under eat free. Tickets may be purchased from the school office in advance at a discount, or at the door for full price. A monthly dinner "season pass" is good for all 9 scheduled dinners. Cost is $130 for an adult (age 14+) season pass and $45 for child season pass (age 4-14).
Our October 8th dinner - An Evening with Celia - will feature Guest Chef Celia Cerasoli (of Celia's Lasagne). The menu will feature Antipasto Salad, Celia's Lasagne and a Cookie Sale for dessert.
We are participating in Terracycle's trash to products recycling efforts. Please save and send in your empty Capri Sun / Honest Kids drink pouches and empty Frito Lay brand snack bags

VOLUNTEERS / PARENTS: Please sign up for a VIRTUS training session if you have not had one. We will need your certificate on file in the school office for you to participate in school functions with the children.
