Daily Examen

The Daily Examen, taught by St. Ignatius of Loyola, is a short prayer of reflection that helps us recognize God’s presence in our day and respond to His grace. It can be prayed in the morning, evening, or at any quiet moment.
Steps of the Daily Examen
- Place yourself in God’s presence.
Remember that God is with you and ask the Holy Spirit to guide your reflection. - Give thanks.
Recall the blessings, graces, and joys of the day. Thank God for His gifts. - Review the day.
Walk through the day’s events. Where did you encounter God? Where did you respond with love? Where did you fall short? - Face your shortcomings.
Honestly acknowledge your sins and failures. Ask for God’s forgiveness and healing. - Look to tomorrow.
Entrust the next day to God. Ask for His grace to live faithfully and with love.
Scripture for Reflection
- “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are holding to your faith. Test yourselves. Do you not realize that Jesus Christ is in you?” (2 Corinthians 13:5)
- “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
