Eucharist

“The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                (CCC 1324)

Jesus said:

“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world… Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day… Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.”

(John 6:51, 54, 56)

The New Covenant

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Catholic faith. At the Last Supper, Christ gave us His Body and Blood under the appearances of bread and wine, promising eternal life to those who receive Him.

At every Mass, the priest, acting in persona Christi (in the person of Christ), takes these gifts of bread and wine, prays the words Jesus spoke at the Last Supper, and by the power of the Holy Spirit they are changed in substance to become the Body and Blood of Christ. This change is called Transubstantiation.

As a parish family, we gather each Sunday to celebrate this great mystery, giving thanks to God and receiving the grace we need to live as His disciples.
